Peru's mass transit system is a chaotic system of privately owned and operated big buses, medium-sized micros (coasters or microbuses) and combis (small vans). The Metropolitano is a new public transport system in Lima that was inaugurated in 2010. New gas powered articulated buses circulate on special bus lanes that are partitioned off the normal road.
Most Peruvieans are actually not of Spanish descent. About one-half are Indian and the rest are mixed white. White people are mostly found in the northern highlands and are mostly of Spanish, Italian, British, French, German, Irish and Croatian descent. Over 10,000 Palestinians live in Peru alone. The Interoceanic Highway or Trans-oceanic highway is an international, transcontinental highway that connects Peru and Brazil. Highways in Peru are assigned with numeric designation or sometimes a name. Longitudinal highways, those that travel North to South, are designated with odd numbers and they are numbered from smallest to largest from the West to the East. Transverse highways, which travel East to West, are designated with even numbers and they are numbered from smallest to largest from the North to the South. Lima J. Chavez is Peru's busiest airport. While Collique and Las Palmas are secondary. Peruvian rail transport has never formed a true network, primarily comprising separate lines running inland from the coast and built according to freight need rather than passenger need.
