The coastal region (11.6% of Peru), which is bounded by the Pacific Ocean, the highlands region (28.1% of Peru), that is located on the Andean Heights, and the jungle region (60.3%), that is located on the Amazonian Jungle. Although later on a geographer decided to separate into eight Peruvian regions, which are Chala or coast, Yungas, Quechua, Suni, Puna, Janca, Rupa, and Omagua. Peru is a presidential representative democratic republic. The government is divided into three branches: the executive, the legislative and the judicial. Peru was home to many diverse indigenous cultures long before the Incas arrived. Although there is evidence of human habitation in Peru as long ago as the eighth millennium BC. The physical region in Peru is along the west coast, a dry, almost rainless desert covers the land. It stretches from the coastal plain of the Pacific Ocean to the Andes Mountain Range. Many of the mountains in this part of the Andes are volcanos. Economics include textiles, chemicals, agricultural products (garden produce and fruits), fish-meal, services and energy.
